Personal Bests
A "Personal Best" is something that is done better than you have ever done it before. If the fastest you have ever run 400 metres is 2 minutes, then 1min 55s is a Personal Best. Even if you win a race in a time of 2 minutes and 5 seconds, this isn't a Personal Best. The major area in which you should aim for your Personal Best is in learning. You learn faster in your teens than you will at ANY later stage of your life. (Just think of how long it takes you to learn to play a game of Nintendo compared to your parents!) Your life and your talents are God's gift to you. What you do with them is your gift to God. Not everyone can be first. But everyone can aim for their Personal Best - in study, in sport, in how you are as a person, in what you do for others.

Mutual Respect
Respect your teachers and other students, and act in a way that will command their respect. That's what "Mutual Respect" is - respect that goes in both directions. You can see this respect in action in students who:
  • co-operate with each other, and with their teachers
  • treat everyone with good manners
  • congratulate their classmates on effort and achievements
  • are honest in word and action
  • welcome visitors to the school with courtesy and interest
  • help others to learn

    The Acceptable Use Agreement is based on Mutual respect. This is a signed agreement which allows students to use the computer network facilities within the college. The rules which govern it are basically manners, common sense and consideration for others. Students are expected to respect the rights of others, in just the same way as they should do so when using other facilities such as the library or canteen. If they do this, then everyone benefits. If anyone fails to do so, then they can expect their rights of access to be cut off.

Care of Property
Every student needs the right equipment to be able to work and learn effectively. It is therefore your job to look after:
  • your OWN property;
  • OTHERS' property;
  • the SCHOOL'S property.
Right place, Right time, Right gear
You need to be well-organised to achieve your Personal Best: it doesn't happen by accident! A major part of being well organised is making sure you are in the right place, on time, with all the equipment and books that you need. Having a watch and using your diary correctly will help you with organisation.
Pride
Be proud of yourself, be proud of your school. Make sure that when you are in public, you are a good ambassador for your school: everyone likes to be part of a school that has a good reputation. You do this through:
  • Making sure that your uniform is correct
  • Competing fairly, both within the school and when representing the school
  • Behaving well both within the school, and in public places
